The decision of the High Court of London has shown that the nationalization of PrivatBank in 2016 was absolutely legal and fair. Moreover, society will be “shocked” by the exposed schemes for withdrawing funds and the individuals involved in this.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> on the air of “Pryamoy” by Volodymyr Ariev, a member of parliament from “European Solidarity”.<\/p>\n

“It was confirmed that the nationalization of PrivatBank, as well as the seizure of funds and property, which were carried out by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies under the previous government in order to ensure at least partial compensation for losses, were absolutely legal and fair. Although Kolomoisky supported Zelensky in the 2019 elections precisely with the hope that he would take revenge on Poroshenko in this way for the fact that he tried to do everything so that the funds stolen by the owners of PrivatBank were at least compensated to the state and returned, since the bank was becoming the property of the Ukrainian state,” the people’s representative explains the essence of the case.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he recalled that earlier a journalistic investigation clearly indicated the involvement of “Kvartal 95” in the withdrawal of funds from “PrivatBank”.<\/p>\n

“A very interesting moment that I just found in 2019, and then an independent investigation by “Schemes” confirmed $41 million that Kolomoisky withdrew from PrivatBank funds to transfer to a certain “Kvartal 95″. This money went directly to the owners and those who currently run the state,” Ariev noted.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to the People’s Deputy, after the decision of the High Court of London, society will be “shocked” by the exposed schemes and the individuals involved.<\/p>\n

“A very interesting case is now in court. I think that after this trial, we will be able to talk about opening absolutely all the materials related to the withdrawal of funds. I have seen many of these materials. And when society sees all these schemes that have already been opened as a result of the end of the trials, I think society will simply be horrified,” summed up the representative of “European Solidarity” Volodymyr Ar’yev.<\/p>\n

It was reported the day before that PrivatBank had won a case in an English court against its former owners<\/a> , Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov. The decision was confirmed by the bank’s press service.<\/p>\n

The hearings ended in November 2023. The bank demanded compensation for losses caused by the withdrawal of assets in the amount of more than $1.9 billion. Including interest, the final amount more than doubled.<\/p>\n

PrivatBank lawyers said Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov organized a \u201ccredit recycling\u201d scheme to withdraw funds. The money was routed through six offshore companies \u2014 three each in the UK and the British Virgin Islands, which are also defendants in the case.<\/p>\n
