The Verkhovna Rada session on the restoration of the independence of the NABU and the SAPO, which will take place on July 31, will be broadcast online.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> the head of the Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.<\/p>\n

“Our demand was heard and, at least partially, implemented. I congratulate everyone involved. Turn on<\/a> from 12:00 and monitor the parliament. I hope this is the first step towards resuming online broadcasts,” the MP wrote.<\/p>\n

Yurchyshyn also reported that he has an agreement with the Chairman of the Councils Stefanchuk on the resumption of broadcasts in the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that this is the first online broadcast from the Verkhovna Rada since the start of the full-scale invasion. For three years, broadcasting of parliamentary sessions was prohibited due to security concerns.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a bill that significantly limits the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP)<\/a> , effectively subordinating their activities to the Prosecutor General, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed it.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Verkhovna Rada will consider one of the key laws for anti-corruption reform<\/a> – the bill on restoring the independence of NABU and SAPO. Before that, on July 30, the document will be urgently considered by the relevant parliamentary committee.<\/p>\n
