The SBU’s military counterintelligence, together with the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, exposed an official of one of the combat brigades of the Armed Forces, who, according to the investigation, is involved in the embezzlement of funds intended for the purchase of combat drones.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, the head of the financial and economic department concluded a number of contracts with an enterprise associated with his acquaintance. The cost of the drones in the documents significantly exceeded the market price, which allowed the defendants to withdraw state funds.<\/p>\n

We are talking about the purchase of drones, which are actively used at the front \u2014 in particular, in the Kramatorsk direction for aerial reconnaissance and fire adjustment on the positions of the occupation troops.<\/p>\n

The SBU notes that just one of the documented episodes caused the state losses of almost 2 million hryvnias. This money could cover the purchase of several additional batches of UAVs for defense needs.<\/p>\n

During searches of the suspects’ residences and workplaces, investigators found documentation confirming the illegal transaction. A forensic examination confirmed the fact of embezzlement.<\/p>\n

Based on the collected evidence, both suspects \u2014 a serviceman and an entrepreneur \u2014 were notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement or misappropriation of property in particularly large amounts using official position).<\/p>\n

Investigative actions are ongoing. For their actions, they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained an instructor major of one of the air brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who turned out to be an agent of Russian intelligence<\/a> . The suspect was preparing strikes on Ukrainian airfields where F-16, Mirage 2000 and Su-24 aircraft are based.<\/p>\n

As reported, within the ranks of the Defense Forces, the Security Service exposed a serviceman who was working for Russian special services and sharing information about fellow soldiers with the enemy.<\/a><\/p>\n
