During the morning attack on July 31, Russian forces used Iskander-K ground-based cruise missiles, which were launched from the territory of the Kursk region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by Colonel Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of a national telethon.<\/p>\n

According to him, the enemy uses the tactic of launching missiles at ultra-low altitudes, which significantly complicates their detection by Ukrainian air defense. This time, the air defense forces were able to destroy only 3 of the 8 launched Iskanders.<\/p>\n

“These missiles fly as low as possible, using natural terrain \u2014 in particular riverbeds \u2014 to remain invisible to radar. This trajectory makes them difficult targets even for modern air defense systems,” Ignat explained.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the Iskander-K is no less dangerous than the ballistic version of the Iskander-M, as it has a short approach time. This reduces the ability of the Ukrainian defense to detect and respond.<\/p>\n

The colonel also recalled that among all types of Russian cruise missiles, the Kh-101 type missiles are best intercepted – about 2 thousand out of more than 2.5 thousand have already been destroyed. The defeat rate for Kalibr missiles exceeds half. However, the effectiveness against Iskanders is still lower.<\/p>\n

“This is not the first time Russia has used this tactic, and we see that its goal is to make the work of our air defense as difficult as possible,” the Air Force spokesman summed up.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, July 31, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Kyiv, using missiles and drones. The strike resulted in significant destruction in several areas of the capital, with fatalities and dozens of injuries.<\/a><\/p>\n

It should be noted that First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that the Russians are already modernizing their “shaheeds” so that they can more effectively avoid Ukrainian interceptor drones. He noted that the Russian military is already preparing to massively use jet drones, as well as implementing technologies that allow them to bypass Ukrainian interceptor drones.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, a specialist in the field of electronic warfare and radio-electronic intelligence Sergey \u201cFlash\u201d Beskrestnov noted that Ukrainians began to hear a new eerie sound in the night sky \u2014 we are talking about jet versions of Shahed kamikaze drones, which Russia began to use in recent days.<\/a> This was the enemy\u2019s response to the successes of Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones. So far, the attacks are not massive, but the emergence of a new type of drone may change the nature of threats from the air in the coming months.<\/p>\n

It is worth adding that the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko stated that the Russian invaders struck Kyiv with missiles and UAVs, including Shahed jets.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, Megan Mobbs, daughter of former US President’s special representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg, said that Russia’s nighttime attack on Kyiv is a direct signal that the Kremlin is testing the resolve of the United States.<\/a><\/p>\n
