Several cities in eastern Australia have received their heaviest snowfall in four decades.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A cold front has dumped up to 40 centimetres of snow in some parts of New South Wales, the most since the mid-1980s.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, according to Australian Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Miriam Bradbury, snow has fallen in certain areas of Queensland for the first time in 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

She stressed that climate change has made the weather on the continent more unstable in recent times. However, similar incidents have occurred before.<\/span><\/p>\n

“What makes this event unusual is not only the amount of snow, but also its prevalence, as it covers a fairly significant part of the northern plateaus,” the meteorologist added.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, other regions experienced heavy rains.<\/span><\/p>\n

The storm in Australia caused flooding, traffic disruptions, damage to buildings and power outages.<\/span><\/p>\n
