Shakhtar Donetsk will play against Greek Panathinaikos in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. The match will take place without the Miners’ key scorer, Brazilian Kevin, who was injured the day before. The winner of the match will get a chance to compete with Turkish Samsunspor for a place in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Shakhtar Donetsk will play the first match of the third qualifying round of the 2025\/26 Europa League against the vice-champion of Greece, Panathinaikos Athens. The match will take place at the country’s main stadium, Spiros Louis Stadium in Athens. The match will kick off at 9:00 p.m. Kyiv time<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

Shakhtar’s path in the Europa League<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This match will be the third step for the Miners on their way to the group stage of the tournament. Shakhtar started their Europa League qualification journey with a confident victory over Finnish Ilves: 6:0 at home and 0:0 in the away match. In the second round, the Donetsk team defeated Turkish Besiktas twice \u2014 4:2 and 2:0, where Brazilian winger Kevin became one of the main stars, scoring four goals in three matches.<\/p>\n

However, in the match with Panathinaikos, Shakhtar will have to do without Kevin. As it became known, the player suffered a muscle injury, due to which he has already missed the start of the UPL season. The recovery period is still unknown, but the Brazilian will definitely not help the team in the first match with the Greeks.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Panathinaikos started the Euro season in the Champions League qualifiers, but was eliminated in the second round by the Scottish Rangers (0:2, 1:1) and relegated to the Europa League.<\/p>\n
