Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not ready to end the war against Ukraine because he has not achieved his military goals and is afraid of losing the support of the army and society.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in a new report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n

Analysts believe that the Kremlin has consistently cultivated the public belief over the years that “victory” is vital to Russia’s very existence, allowing the government to mobilize support for a protracted conflict, even despite losses and economic constraints.<\/p>\n

According to ISW, Putin has deliberately not created any mechanisms for retreat or compromise. Moreover, the Kremlin is relying on sentiments that it has shaped itself – in particular, the results of both state and independent opinion polls in early 2025 show that the majority of Russians are inclined to support the war.<\/p>\n

The report pays special attention to the economy: the defense-industrial complex has become a critically important part of Russia’s domestic production. According to ISW estimates, any sharp reduction in military spending could cause an economic downturn in the medium term.<\/p>\n

All of this, according to experts, only strengthens Putin’s interest in continuing the war and may even push him into new armed conflicts in order to maintain political control and justify losses.<\/p>\n

Recall, the administration of Donald Trump has warned the Kremlin: if Vladimir Putin does not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine by August 8, the United States will impose a new package of sanctions.<\/a> The list includes a strike on the \u201cshadow fleet\u201d, customs restrictions, secondary sanctions and other levers of economic pressure. Washington hopes for negotiations, but is preparing for decisive action.<\/p>\n

As reported, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping hostilities against Ukraine, despite sanctions pressure from Donald Trump.<\/a> The ultimatum issued by the US expires on August 8, but Moscow shows no willingness to compromise.<\/p>\n
