US President Donald Trump has informed European leaders of his intention to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week, followed by a trilateral summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy \u2014 a move that could mark the first high-level diplomatic engagement between the three since the start of Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Donald Trump, who has been attempting for months to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, has now decided to move forward with personal meetings. The US president informed EU leaders during a phone call that he intends to meet Vladimir Putin in person next week.<\/p>\n

Trump also plans to hold a trilateral summit involving himself, Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to sources, no European leaders will participate in these talks.<\/p>\n

During the call, Zelenskyy emphasized: \u201cMy position, like that of European leaders, is that the war must end \u2014 but it must end honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conversation also included the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the Chancellor of Germany, the NATO Secretary General, US Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.<\/p>\n

Notably, Witkoff recently held a lengthy meeting with Putin in Moscow. Afterward, Trump shared the details with European allies on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter that, I briefed some of our European allies. Everyone agrees that this war must end, and we will work on that in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your attention to this issue!\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that Trump previously met Zelenskyy earlier this year during Pope Francis\u2019 funeral in Rome. At that time, French President Emmanuel Macron attempted to join the conversation, but Trump declined, preferring personal, bilateral discussions.<\/p>\n

At present, it remains unclear whether Putin and Zelenskyy have agreed to the proposed meeting format. Neither the Kremlin press service nor representatives of the American administration have commented on the situation.<\/p>\n

It is worth adding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after a conversation with Donald Trump, Russia is demonstrating greater readiness for a ceasefire<\/a>. At the same time, he warned that the Kremlin should not be allowed to deceive either Ukraine or the United States.
