Latvia has announced the fifth auction for the sale of the Moscow House in Riga, which was nationalized in 2024 as a symbol of Russian influence. The starting price of the object is 2.142 million euros. The funds received are to be directed to support Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Agency Valsts nekustamie \u012bpa\u0161umi (VN\u012a), which manages state real estate in Latvia, has announced the fifth auction for the sale of the so-called Moscow House, located on Marijas Street in the country’s capital, Riga.<\/p>\n

The new round of bidding will begin on Friday, August 8, and will last until September 8, 2025, 1:00 p.m. The starting price of the property is set at 2.142 million euros with a minimum increment of 10 thousand euros. The same price was used during the previous auction in February 2025.<\/p>\n

The Moscow House was owned by the Moscow City Property Department, i.e. it was directly subordinate to the authorities of the Russian Federation. In January 2024, the Latvian Seimas finally adopted a bill on the confiscation of the object.<\/p>\n

The grounds for nationalization were a threat to the security of the Latvian state, as well as signs of hostile activity in favor of the Russian Federation, which were discovered by the Latvian State Security Service. According to it, after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the premises of the Moscow House continued to be rented out to individuals who publicly supported the Kremlin’s aggressive policy.<\/p>\n

The facility has long been seen as a symbol of Russian influence over its compatriots in Latvia. Its use after 2022 has raised concerns among Latvian security services. In March 2024, a decision was made to sell it along with the land on which it is located.<\/p>\n

One of the key goals of the sale is to provide financial support to Ukraine. The Latvian authorities have already announced that after the successful auction, amendments to the law on supporting residents of Ukraine will be initiated in order to transfer the funds received from the sale of the object to appropriate needs.<\/p>\n

The first auction took place back in August 2024, but as expected by the real estate company Latio, the property failed to sell on the first attempt. Given the complex political history and the price of the lot, several re-auctions were organized, and the current one is the fifth in a row.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Latvia transferred another batch of drones to Ukraine<\/a> in the amount of 1,300 units.<\/p>\n

The day before, Latvia handed over a batch of Patria 6\u00d76 armored personnel carriers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine<\/a> as part of a new military assistance package.<\/p>\n
