Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon visit India.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, whose words are quoted by The Times of India.<\/p>\n

He said the two countries have a “special, long-standing relationship” that India values. Doval noted that ongoing high-level contacts have yielded tangible results, and that New Delhi is therefore looking forward to Putin’s visit. He added that the dates for the trip have almost been finalized.<\/p>\n

The statement comes amid worsening tensions between India and the United States. The Donald Trump administration has imposed new tariffs on India in response to its purchases of Russian oil, which has caused further tension in bilateral relations between Washington and New Delhi.<\/p>\n

Recall that US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of new tariffs for India<\/a> : from August 1, the country must pay 25%. He explained that India buys most of its military equipment from Russia and, together with China, is one of the largest consumers of Russian energy.<\/p>\n

It should be added that Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India would be able to meet its oil needs from alternative sources<\/a> if Russian supplies were cut off due to US sanctions.<\/p>\n

Earlier, India’s state-owned oil refineries temporarily suspended purchases of Russian oil<\/a> after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on countries that continue to buy energy resources from Moscow.<\/p>\n
