Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the meeting of international security advisers, held after the visit of US President Donald Trump\u2019s special representative Steve Witkoff to Vladimir Putin, an important step. The talks, attended by representatives of leading Western powers, focused on potential paths to peace, with discussions set to continue tomorrow.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

This was announced by<\/a> the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

It is reported that following the meeting between Donald Trump\u2019s special representative Steve Witkoff and Vladimir Putin, a closed video conference was held with senior officials from Ukraine, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The purpose of the discussion was to brief partners on the content of the talks and outline further steps toward a possible peaceful settlement.<\/p>\n

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the results of this discussion, stressing that the meeting was lengthy, substantive, and important.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur team has just reported to me that the security advisers held a fairly long and detailed conversation, with a significant number of participants involved. This matters. I thank everyone for their work and for the sincere desire to stop the killings and ensure lasting peace,\u201d Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The President added that the talks would continue tomorrow, as many aspects still need to be addressed. Ukraine, he noted, remains fully engaged and committed to productive dialogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cUkraine, as always, will work productively. We need a decent peace,\u201d the head of state emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier, it became known that Steve Witkoff, who serves as Donald Trump\u2019s special representative for international negotiations, met with Vladimir Putin and was to brief Western partners on the meeting. According to Axios<\/em>, the possibility of a future Trump\u2013Putin summit is not ruled out, should both sides support the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

Previously, US President Donald Trump informed European leaders of his intention to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as early as next week, followed by a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This could become the first direct dialogue in such a format since the start of the full-scale war.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy also noted that after his conversation with Trump, Russia appeared more willing to consider a ceasefire. At the same time, he warned that the Kremlin must not be allowed to mislead either Ukraine or the United States. The President further highlighted recent successes of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region, which, he said, have forced Moscow to seek assistance from North Korea.<\/p>\n

By the way, US President Donald Trump announced progress in negotiations with Russia to end the war in Ukraine<\/a>. According to him, his special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Vladimir Putin, after which consultations with European allies began.<\/p>\n

The day before, today, August 6, US President’s special representative Steve Witkoff arrived in Russia, where he held talks with Vladimir Putin<\/a>. The Kremlin said that the parties discussed the situation in Ukraine and possible areas of strategic cooperation between Moscow and Washington. The meeting was called “constructive.”<\/p>\n
