In temporarily occupied Crimea, among the targets destroyed by Ukrainian forces during the attack on August 7, one of the most modern Russian radar stations was hit – the 98L6 Yenisei radar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the analytical community of OSINT researchers “CyberBoroshno”.<\/p>\n

According to an analysis of the video released by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the object identified in the video as the 96L6 radar (S-400) is actually a much more modern and technologically important target \u2014 the newest Yenisei radar, which is part of the Russian S-500 Prometheus air defense system.<\/p>\n

“We have analyzed the visual features of the object and can say that this is the latest radar 98L6 ‘Yenisei’,” the analysts said. According to them, this station passed state tests in 2020\u20132021 and was officially adopted by the Russian Federation in 2021\u20132022.<\/p>\n

The Yenisei radar is a unique element of air defense: it is capable of tracking hypersonic and low-orbit targets at altitudes of up to 120 km and at speeds of over 17,000 km\/h. This was made possible by the use of an active phased array antenna (AFA), which provides immunity to interference and high accuracy of target detection.<\/p>\n

The destruction of such a complex is a serious blow to Russia’s defense capabilities on the peninsula.<\/p>\n

“An incredibly important and expensive target that was hit by a Ukrainian UAV,” the analysts emphasized. According to their information, this radar was used together with the S-400 system, but could potentially be integrated into the S-500 structure.<\/p>\n

Thus, the strike by Ukrainian drones not only destroyed the latest enemy air defense system, but also demonstrated Ukraine’s ability to strike the most protected technological facilities of the Russian Federation even in occupied territory.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the forces of the “Ghost” special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine launched a series of pinpoint strikes on Russian military targets – a landing craft, at least three radar stations, and an air defense base in Crimea were hit.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, on the night of August 8 , a drone attack was recorded in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.<\/a> According to local residents, explosions were heard in several areas of the region.<\/p>\n
