Ukraine and Europe presented their own plan to the United States, which should serve as the basis for negotiations with the Russian side.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> was reported by<\/span><\/a> The Wall Street Journal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The proposal was presented to US Vice President J.D. Vance during a summit of national security advisers held in the UK. Other US officials \u2014 Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoys Keith Kellogg and Steve Witkoff \u2014 were at the meeting online.<\/span><\/p>\n

First of all, the Ukrainian-European plan provides for a ceasefire as a prerequisite for further steps to resolve the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, it is assumed that the exchange of territories is possible only on a reciprocal basis: if Ukraine withdraws its troops from certain regions, then Russia is obliged to take the same actions in other areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, if the Ukrainian army completely leaves the Donetsk region, the Russians must withdraw their troops from the Kherson region and Zaporizhia.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, any territorial concessions by Kyiv must be backed up by NATO guarantees \u2014 potential membership in the alliance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot start the process by giving up territory in the midst of hostilities,\u201d the publication\u2019s European interlocutor emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to WSJ sources, the goal of the plan is to define and establish red lines by Ukraine and Europe that will apply to all potential negotiations.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, European officials emphasized to their American colleagues that Ukraine’s future cannot be decided without its consent, and Europe, regardless of the US position, will continue to support Kyiv.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the US and Russia are seeking to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine<\/a> , which would consolidate Russian control over the occupied regions.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump may recognize Russian control over part of the Ukrainian regions<\/a> that are currently under occupation.<\/p>\n

As it became known, Vladimir Putin still seeks to gain full control over four Ukrainian regions<\/a> \u2014 Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia \u2014 and has no plans to withdraw from the occupied territories.<\/p>\n
