It could turn into a coordinated \u201cfour-handed game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"554\">Donald Trump is assuming the role of a mediator \u2014 not a detached one, as in the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, nor an active observer, as in Turkey \u2014 but a mediator deeply involved in the negotiation process. While such a role exists in diplomatic law and has precedents in the history of international relations, it is unlikely to be impartial.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"1040\">Ukraine should not participate in a simulation of peace talks, especially when no genuine outcome is anticipated. Instead, it should hold <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"707\">bilateral<\/strong> meetings with the leaders of partner countries \u2014 notably the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France \u2014 and ultimately convene a <strong data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"874\">multilateral summit<\/strong>, where all participants are at the table with a coordinated, clear, and strong negotiating position, ensuring that Ukraine is not left to face the challenge alone.<\/p>\n<p><em>Recall that the White House <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/chy-prybude-zelenskyy-do-aliasky-na-zustrich-trampa-i-putina-u-zmi-vyslovyly-prypushchennia\/\">does not exclude the presence of Ukrainian President<\/a> Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Alaska during the meeting of the leaders of the United States and Russia. At the same time, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia should <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/obydvi-storony-ne-budut-zadovoleni-u-ssha-poiasnyly-iak-zavershuvatymut-viynu-v-ukraini\/\">be based on the current front line<\/a>. Taking the current line of combat contact, the US will try to find a negotiated solution, the official added.<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t<aside class=\"shortcode-also\" data-title=\"Read also\" data-right>\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/russia-does-not-plan-to-withdraw-from-the-territories-through-which-it-has-secured-a-corridor-with-crimea-what-compromise-is-putin-offering\/\">Russia does not plan to withdraw from the territories through which it has secured a corridor with Crimea: what compromise is Putin offering?<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\n<p><em>Meanwhile, on the eve of the scheduled meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leaders of leading European countries issued a joint statement in which they emphasized <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ukraina-maie-svobodu-vyboru-vlasnoi-doli-ievropeyski-lidery-vystupyly-zi-spilnoiu-zaiavoiu-pered-zustrichchiu-trampa-i-putina\/\">Ukraine&#8217;s inviolable right<\/a> to independently determine its future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bloomberg previously reported that the US and Russia are preparing a ceasefire agreement that would formally <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ssha-i-rf-hotuiut-uhodu-pro-prypynennia-viyny-iaka-ofitsiyno-zakripliuie-rosiyskyy-kontrol-nad-okupovanymy-terytoriiamy-bloomberg\/\">establish Russian control over the occupied territories<\/a>. At the same time, American and Russian officials are working on an agreement for a planned meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which is likely to take place next week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Putin is demanding that Ukraine hand over the entire eastern part of Donbas and Crimea to Russia, which would force Volodymyr Zelenskyy to order the withdrawal of troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are under Kyiv&#8217;s control.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Moreover, according to The Wall Street Journal, US President Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/naytsinnisha-uhoda-trampa-iak-ssha-mozhut-pity-na-postupky-rf-i-vyznaty-kontrol-nad-okupovanymy-zemliamy\/\">Trump may recognize Russian control<\/a> over part of the Ukrainian regions that are currently under occupation. According to the terms being discussed by officials, Russia will undertake to stop the offensive in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions along the contact line.
