NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the August 15 meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. He stressed that NATO would remain committed to supporting Kyiv and would never recognize the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territories.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rutte confirmed that NATO has a clear commitment to Ukraine to have all the necessary resources to continue the fight and maintain the most advantageous positions on the front. According to him, coordinated arms supplies from Alliance member countries will continue regardless of the outcome of the Putin-Trump summit, which will take place on August 15 in Alaska.<\/p>\n

Rutte stressed that issues related to Ukrainian territories, security guarantees and peace negotiations should be resolved exclusively with the participation of Ukraine. He emphasized that no country has the right to make fateful decisions about the future of Ukrainian lands without the presence and consent of Kyiv.<\/p>\n

The NATO Secretary General also noted that legal recognition of Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territories is impossible. At the same time, he acknowledged that the negotiation process may include discussing ways to respond to the de facto situation where part of Ukrainian lands remain under the control of Russian troops.<\/p>\n

Rutte’s statements came on the eve of a key international event – the meeting between Trump and Putin. According to experts, the position of the NATO Secretary General indicates the Alliance’s intention to maintain stable and long-term support for Ukraine, regardless of possible political agreements between the leaders of the United States and Russia.<\/p>\n

Recall that US President Donald Trump informed European leaders of his intention to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> , and later to organize a trilateral meeting with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
