The funds will be used to financially support and meet the defense needs of the country, which is resisting Russian aggression.

This is reported by Ukrinform .

According to the documents, the funds arrived in the EU last Friday in the form of so-called excess profits – interest on cash balances in accounts held at central securities depositories.

The assets themselves remain blocked under EU sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but interest on them can be used to support the Ukrainian state.

Ukraine received the first tranche of this type in July 2024, the second in April 2025. The third payment covers excess profits accumulated during the first half of 2025.

According to the approved distribution mechanism, 95% of this tranche will be channeled through the Ukraine Loan Cooperation Facility (ULCM), which assists in the repayment of EU macro-financial assistance loans and bilateral loans. The remaining 5% will go through the European Peace Facility (EPF) to meet Ukraine’s urgent military and defense needs.

Recall that in the previous two tranches, 90% of the funds were channeled through the EPF and 10% through the Ukraine Facility. In total, the ULCM provides credit support in the amount of 45 billion euros, while the EPF ensures the supply of necessary weapons and equipment.

Recall that in July, Ukraine received 1 billion euros from the European Union in the form of profits from frozen Russian assets.

As reported, the Finnish government will send ammunition to Ukraine using profits from frozen Russian assets.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram .

The European Union has decided to transfer to Ukraine the third tranche of excess profits from frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia, amounting to 1.6 billion euros.
