To grasp the full absurdity of the idea of exchanging Ukrainian territories for Ukrainian territories, imagine living in your parents\u2019 apartment, once home to your grandparents, where you were born and raised. You hold all the legal documents, and the property is duly registered in your name under the law.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And then your friendly neighbor rings the doorbell, \u201cjust to borrow some salt\u201d \u2014 and greets you with a baseball bat to the head. You wake up, bleeding, to find him lounging in your kitchen with his drinking buddies, happily emptying your fridge.<\/p>\n

You try to throw him out, but he\u2019s barricaded himself in and shows no intention of giving your kitchen back.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s when the real circus begins. All the \u201cdecent\u201d folks in the building \u2014 Uncle Sasha, who used to slip you candy as a kid; Aunt Olya with her army of cats; Dimka, your old partner in crime from the apple orchards \u2014 suddenly avert their eyes. They are purring: \u201cSeryozha, you know we\u2019re on your side! But\u2026 you understand he\u2019s stronger, right? Just give him the kitchen! We can\u2019t live like this anymore \u2014 all these shouting matches from morning till night, we\u2019re not getting any sleep, the children are scared.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

You\u2019re fuming, but what can you do? People are people \u2014 not everyone\u2019s blessed with a spine. So, you call the police.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t
