President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the planned meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, no decisions regarding Ukraine will be made without its direct participation. He emphasized that the “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine” format remains Kyiv’s principled position, and key issues of peace will be resolved only in a trilateral format.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this at the Ukrainian Youth Forum “2025: Youth Here!”.<\/p>\n

The head of state commented on the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which is planned for Alaska. According to Zelensky, this dialogue may be important for bilateral relations between the US and Russia, but will not affect decision-making regarding Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“They cannot accept anything about Ukraine without us. This is unacceptable and unacceptable in any format,” the president emphasized.<\/p>\n

He also noted that he expects Donald Trump to understand and support the Ukrainian position. Zelenskyy said that a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is planned in the future, which, according to him, could be a step towards ending the war.<\/p>\n

“Of course, we will have a meeting at the leadership level, a trilateral one. I don’t know the date, but if we want to end the war, it will happen,” he stressed.<\/p>\n

The President reaffirmed that any compromises or agreements concerning the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of Ukraine can only be discussed in the presence of the Ukrainian side, and any other formats will have no legitimacy.<\/p>\n

By the way, European leaders issued a joint statement in support of Ukraine ahead of Donald Trump’s planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> . 26 of the 27 leaders of the European Union have made their position public – with the exception of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Trump announced that on Friday, August 15, he will travel to Russia, where he plans to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.<\/a><\/p>\n
