The release was previously planned for July 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> IGN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/shrek-5-delay-pushes-theatrical-release-date-to-summer-2027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reports<\/a> this.<\/p>\n<p> Initially, the fifth part of the cult franchise was planned to be shown on July 1, 2026, but the premiere has already been postponed twice. The studio does not give reasons.<\/p>\n<p> Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy will all return to their roles, with Zendaya also joining the cast.<\/p>\n<p> The previous release date, April 16, 2027, will see the release of a new animated film from Illumination, the title of which has not yet been revealed.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Shrek<\/strong> is an American animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation, based on the book of the same name by William Steig. The film is directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, and written by Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Joe Stillman, and Roger S. Schulman.
