Russia plans to introduce checks on “new citizens” for values and loyalty to the regime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The Human Rights Council under the President of Russia has proposed introducing a test for “new citizens” to ensure they accept the cultural and historical traditions, values, and laws of the Russian Federation. This “test” implies that keeping a passport should be underlined by proven loyalty.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin stated that among the several million “new citizens” there are those who “will never become patriots” and “pose a threat to national security.”<\/p>\n

They also added that work to verify such individuals is already underway.<\/p>\n

The new norms are planned to be applied to residents of the Transcaucasian Territories of Ukraine who have received Russian passports, and later to migrants from Central Asia.<\/p>\n

In parallel, the State Duma is considering a bill that would introduce paid education for children of migrants and make it more difficult to pass language proficiency exams.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russia had changed its own legislation to strip citizens of their citizenship, another step in the systematic pressure on the regime’s enemies<\/a> .<\/p>\n
