A large-scale rally in support of Ukraine was held in Anchorage, Alaska. Locals, along with activists from across the state, took to the streets with Ukrainian flags and a single slogan: “Ukraine and Alaska \u2014 never again Russia!”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Voice of America correspondent Ostap Yarysh reported<\/a> the event on social media, posting a video of the event. Participants held a large yellow-and-blue banner and chanted words of support that echoed throughout the city center.<\/p>\n

According to the BBC, several hundred people turned out for the rally. It was organized by the non-governmental organization Stand UP Alaska: its head Erin Jackson-Hill gathered like-minded people three days before the summit to declare that “we are against inviting authoritarian dictators to our state.” She emphasized: “Putin is a war criminal and has no place on American soil.” <\/p>\n

The action took place right before a summit with Putin, which was scheduled to take place in Alaska. During the summit, the city center again became an arena for protest \u2014 but other organizers had already organized a new wave of expressions of support for Ukraine. <\/p>\n

As a reminder, on August 14, Donald Trump made several statements before a summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, expressing his opinion on the Kremlin’s readiness for an agreement, doubts about a quick ceasefire, plans for a new meeting with Zelensky, and his intention to discuss borders and territorial issues.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, US President Donald Trump said that he does not seek to impose new sanctions against Russia, preferring diplomacy and negotiations<\/a> . At the same time, he emphasized his readiness to apply economic restrictions if the situation requires it.<\/p>\n
