In July, Russian troops sharply intensified attacks on Ukrainian rescuers \u2014 the number of recorded incidents tripled compared to the previous month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sky News verified<\/a> 16 cases of damage to emergency vehicles – all released footage was carefully analyzed.<\/p>\n

In total, Sky News experts have documented 82 such attacks in which Russian forces have deliberately targeted emergency vehicles since January 2024. The report does not include cases where vehicles were not hit, or where only personnel without a vehicle were targeted.<\/p>\n

This clearly indicates the Russian Federation’s systematic actions against civilian medical personnel \u2014 a direct violation of the Geneva Convention.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Russians are targeting ambulances to undermine the will of Ukrainians to fight… They want to make it as dangerous as possible, and they have no respect for human life,\u201d said Melinda Haring, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. She also noted that the Kremlin\u2019s tactic involves a double-strike: an initial attack, the arrival of rescue workers, and a second strike to destroy them.<\/p>\n

The head of the Kherson emergency services, Maksym Kurchyk, confirmed this tactic: “The occupiers like to strike double blows \u2014 first at the targets, then at the rescuers. They are tracking us \u2014 and warning us on social media: we are their priority.”<\/p>\n

Truth Hounds researcher Vitaly Poberezhny added: “Russian drone operators know exactly who they are attacking – they clearly see the rescuers’ uniforms and special markings, and all of this is intentional.”<\/p>\n

Armed attacks on emergency services were also condemned in a report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which said that a double strike on a scene where medics were already working was a clear violation of international humanitarian law and could be classified as a war crime.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, in the frontline town of Hulyaipol in Zaporizhia, Ukrainian rescuers came under enemy fire.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, four employees of the State Emergency Service were injured due to targeted Russian strikes<\/a> .<\/p>\n
