On Friday, August 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, at which the topics of the summit in Alaska, the situation at the front, and the financing of the Defense Forces were raised.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote<\/span><\/a> about this<\/span> in Telegram.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President stressed that Ukrainian soldiers managed to stabilize the situation in the Pokrovsky direction. In particular, there are positive results in the Dobropillya direction. Also, according to him, there is a decision to strengthen the directions in the Donetsk region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The situation on the front lines in the Zaporizhia region was separately discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Russian army continues to suffer significant losses, trying to secure more favorable political positions for the Russian leadership at the meeting in Alaska. We understand this plan, we inform partners about the real situation,” the message says.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the meeting considered the development of the contract system in the Defense Forces and the financing of the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine in 2025\u20132026.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, Zelenskyy expects a report on the current intentions of the Russians and preparations for the meeting in Alaska.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe stakes are really high. The main thing is that this meeting opens up the possibility of a real path to an honest peace and a substantive conversation between leaders in a trilateral format: Ukraine, the United States, the Russian side. It is time to end the war, and appropriate steps must be taken by Russia,\u201d he concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, on August 14, Donald Trump made several statements before a summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska<\/a> , expressing his opinion on the Kremlin’s readiness for an agreement, doubts about a quick ceasefire, plans for a new meeting with Zelensky, and his intention to discuss borders and territorial issues.<\/p>\n

As is known, during discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that within the framework of a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, “an exchange of territories is needed.”<\/a><\/p>\n
