Trump Claims Both Putin and Zelenskyy Want a Peace Meeting\u2014While Skipping New Sanctions and Chatting Territorial Deals<\/strong><\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump confirmed in a Fox News interview that both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy want him to attend an upcoming meeting to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey both want me to be there, and I will be there,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

When asked about the timeline for achieving peace, he replied that it could happen \u201cquite quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also acknowledged that he had underestimated the difficulty of resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, referencing his campaign promise to end the war in 24 hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it would be the easiest of all, and it turned out to be the hardest,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n

The US president announced that he currently refuses to impose new sanctions or other \u201cserious consequences\u201d on Russia, based on the results of his meeting with Putin.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of what happened today, I don\u2019t have to think about it now. Maybe in two or three weeks I\u2019ll have to reconsider, but not now,\u201d Trump said. Previously, he had threatened to impose tough sanctions to pressure Putin to end the war.<\/p>\n

Regarding the content of the negotiations, Trump stated that he and Putin \u201clargely\u201d agreed on territorial exchanges and certain security guarantees for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we agreed on a lot. The meeting was warm,\u201d he said, describing Putin as a \u201cstrong guy\u201d and \u201ctough as hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, the US president emphasized that the final decision rests with Ukraine: \u201cUkraine must agree. We must make a deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked to assess the summit, Trump rated the meeting a \u201c10\u201d in terms of the level of understanding between the two countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got along great. It\u2019s a big deal, especially for nuclear powers. We\u2019re number one, they\u2019re number two in the world,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
