Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia wants an early end to hostilities in Ukraine, and the meeting with US President Donald Trump allegedly “brings us closer to the necessary decisions.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this at a meeting following the summit in Alaska.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Russian dictator stressed that to achieve a ceasefire, it is necessary to eliminate the \u201croot causes\u201d of the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We did, we talked about the genesis, about the causes of this crisis. It is the elimination of these causes that should be the basis for the settlement,” Putin said.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, the meeting in Alaska was “very useful and timely,” where the Russian side managed to “calmly and in detail” explain its position to Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We, of course, also respect the position of the American administration, which sees the need for an early cessation of hostilities. And we would also like this and would like to move on to resolving all issues by peaceful means. The conversation was very frank, meaningful, and, in my opinion, this brings us closer to the necessary solutions,” the dictator summed up.<\/span><\/p>\n

As is known, negotiations between Trump and Putin took place in Anchorage on August 15. On the eve of the meeting , there were serious fears<\/a> in expert and political circles that the outcome of the negotiations would be a \u201cterritorial exchange,\u201d that is, in fact, the legalization of occupied Ukrainian lands by the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

Following the talks, Trump and Putin held a joint press conference. \u201cPryamy\u201d collected all the key statements of the US and Russian leaders<\/a> . After the talks, the US President stated, in particular, that the summit was constructive and gave reason for optimism. He announced consultations with NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but stressed that there are no final agreements yet<\/a> .<\/p>\n
