Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to avoid any real guarantees that would prevent a new invasion of Ukraine. Instead, Moscow consistently seeks to destroy Western unity, oust Kyiv from the international support system, and divide the United States and Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moreover, Moscow has threatened “escalation with unpredictable consequences”, trying to intimidate the Western participants in the dialogue.<\/p>\n

Russian diplomats have focused particular attention on the UK, accusing it of undermining the negotiation process. This, according to Seely, is yet another attempt to drive a wedge between the allies.<\/p>\n

Conquering these cities could take years, but it is precisely this “patience” that Moscow sees as its advantage.<\/p>\n

The British publication notes that Putin considers Western leadership weak and unstable. His bet is on waiting: waiting until political elites change, support for Ukraine weakens, and disillusionment with the war takes over.<\/p>\n

“Putin believes that the West will tire before he does. He is convinced that his strategic patience is stronger than democratic unpredictability,” the author emphasizes.<\/p>\n

In the event of a peace deal, The Telegraph warns that it will not stop the Kremlin’s plans. Russia will likely try to influence Ukraine in the same way it does in Georgia or Moldova – through pressure, pro-Russian forces, oligarchs and information warfare. Such a “peace” will only translate the conflict into a new form.<\/p>\n
