US President Donald Trump said that the United States will receive more than $350 billion in rare earth metals from Ukraine thanks to the mineral deal. He emphasized that this significantly exceeds the spending of his predecessor Joe Biden on military aid to Kyiv, and assured that during his term, free arms transfers have stopped.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The American leader emphasized that instead of free aid, Ukraine received an investment model of cooperation.<\/p>\n

“We took a lot more than $350 billion, and they handled it wonderfully. We handled it,” he said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Trump harshly criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, recalling that he “immediately gave Ukraine $100 billion.” Instead, he emphasized that during his presidency, “nothing is given for free.”<\/p>\n

He also called Ukraine “a buffer between Russia and the rest of Europe,” emphasizing Kyiv’s strategic importance for the region’s security.<\/p>\n

It is worth recalling that the agreement between Ukraine and the United States was signed on May 1. It provides for the creation of a joint investment fund for the development of new mineral deposits. The document includes a list of 57 strategic resources – from rare earth metals to oil and gas.<\/p>\n

The Fund will operate on parity terms: it will be managed by three Ukrainian and three American representatives. Development will concern only new deposits, while the ownership of the subsoil remains with Ukraine. The United States may count new military assistance as a contribution to the Fund, but previously provided support will not be taken into account.<\/p>\n

The funds from the Fund will not be withdrawn for ten years, but will be reinvested in the development of the Ukrainian economy. In addition, an audit of all subsoil users has been launched to return unused licenses for new auctions and attract foreign investment.<\/p>\n

Ukraine has vast mineral reserves, the total value of which is estimated at $14.8 trillion. The largest deposits are concentrated in the Donetsk region ($3.8 trillion). However, a significant part of these resources currently remains inaccessible due to the occupation of the territories by Russia.<\/p>\n

Recall that on June 17 , Ukraine approved the start of the process of allowing private companies to develop the state-owned Dobra lithium ore site<\/a> . This step took place within the framework of the implementation of the subsoil agreement with the United States.<\/p>\n

Earlier, on June 4, the Verkhovna Rada finally supported amendments to the Budget Code in order to implement the mineral agreement between Ukraine and the United States.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, on the night of Thursday, May 1, Ukraine and the United States signed a strategic agreement on the creation of a Reconstruction Investment Fund and a partnership in the field of critical minerals.<\/a><\/p>\n
