Russia seeks not just to seize part of Ukraine, but to establish complete control over the entire country and remove the democratically elected government, replacing it with a pro-Russian one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in a new report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which analyzed the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on August 19, in which he denied the Kremlin’s intentions to seize territories, including Crimea and Donbas. At the same time, Lavrov put forward demands that effectively deny Ukrainian sovereignty – for example, to repeal laws on language and religion.<\/p>\n

According to ISW, such statements by the Kremlin demonstrate its true goals: to remove the democratically elected government of Ukraine and replace it with a pro-Russian one, thus gaining full political control over the country.<\/p>\n

Analysts emphasize that the Kremlin does not separate its military and political demands \u2014 it wants to achieve all goals simultaneously and is not ready to make compromises to complete the peace process.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin is ready to implement Russia’s main demands \u2014 the demilitarization of Ukraine, a ban on joining NATO, and a change of government \u2014 by both military and diplomatic methods.<\/p>\n

ISW recalls that the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 was the result of eight years of unsuccessful attempts by the Kremlin to regain control of the country through hybrid military campaigns that have been ongoing since 2004.<\/p>\n

Analysts also note that Russia is trying to increase its influence in other former Soviet states, including NATO members Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. However, the Kremlin has not yet achieved success in the Baltic states.<\/p>\n

In Belarus and Georgia, however, Russian control is much stronger. The Kremlin is particularly trying to strengthen its influence in Minsk in order to completely eliminate Belarus’ independence.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow allegedly did not set itself the goal of seizing Ukrainian territories, but unleashed a full-scale war to “protect the Russian people.”<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, Moscow does not rule out the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine, but insists on its own demands.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to avoid any real guarantees that would prevent a new invasion of Ukraine. Instead , Moscow consistently seeks to destroy Western unity, oust Kyiv from the system of international support, and divide the United States and Europe.<\/a><\/p>\n
