Israel is preparing for a large-scale phase of the war in the Gaza Strip. The government is beginning to mobilize about 60,000 reservists to join the forces that will participate in the preparation and, probably, in the implementation of the operation in Gaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> The Times of Israel, citing security sources.<\/p>\n

The decision to mobilize was made amid the development of an offensive plan codenamed “Gideon’s Chariots B.” This operation involves a full-scale assault on Gaza City, a blockade of its areas, and the destruction of the remnants of Hamas militants.<\/p>\n

Reservists will begin receiving official draft orders on August 20. They will have at least two weeks to report to their units. In total, including those already in service, the number of Israeli military reservists will reach about 130,000.<\/p>\n

It is expected that not all of the mobilized troops will directly participate in the offensive. Some reservists will replace active units in other areas to allow professional combat units to focus on Gaza.<\/p>\n

Operation “Gideon’s Chariot B” involves the capture and assault of the Jabalia, Zeytun and city center areas. These areas have so far remained outside the control of the Israeli army. The new plan was approved by the Israeli Defense Minister during a meeting with the IDF Chief of Staff, senior army officials and representatives of the intelligence services.<\/p>\n

This offensive will be the second of its kind in two years \u2014 the previous one with the same name took place in 2023 and allowed Israel to take control of up to 75% of the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

Israeli forces are also preparing humanitarian measures, including the creation of infrastructure for the evacuation of civilians. It is expected that approximately one million residents of Gaza City will be relocated to the southern Strip. For this, the IDF will deploy temporary housing centers, hospitals and logistics points.<\/p>\n

According to the plan, the Israeli army will issue an official evacuation warning, and residents will have until October 7, 2025, to leave the city. That date will mark two years since Hamas’s massive attack on Israel.<\/p>\n

Despite active military preparations, the Israeli command admits that if an agreement is reached to release the hostages, the operation may be canceled. According to intelligence, Hamas is currently considering an exchange option that involves the release of all hostages at the same time.<\/p>\n

The terrorist group is currently holding 50 hostages. 49 of them were kidnapped during the attack on October 7, 2023. At least 28 of them are believed to be dead, 20 are alive, and the status of 2 more is unknown. Hamas is also holding the body of an Israeli soldier who was killed in 2014.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, about 100,000 people took to the streets of Tel Aviv to protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to establish control over the Gaza Strip.<\/a><\/p>\n
