Czech President Petr Pavel said that his country could become part of an international peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine if one is formed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He reported<\/a> this in a comment for “\u010cesk\u00e9 noviny”.<\/p>\n

Pavel emphasized that the Czech Republic has been actively supporting Ukraine since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion and believes that its participation in peacekeeping initiatives would be a logical continuation of this support.<\/p>\n

“If a demilitarized zone is created along the front line, which will require technical and physical control, the deployment of international forces is likely. The Czech Republic, in such a case, should undoubtedly be among the countries that will participate in this,” the president said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic itself has not yet made any decision on participating in such a mission. Defense Minister Jana Cernohov\u00e1 recently stated that at this point the country is not considering the scenario of sending troops to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“If, after a ceasefire is reached, the Czech military participates in a peacekeeping mission, it will most likely be similar to the Czech experience in post-conflict Yugoslavia,” she noted.<\/p>\n

According to Chernokhova, Czech soldiers will not be directly on the contact line. This is confirmed by Defense Ministry spokesman David \u0160ima, who noted that the Czech army’s participation may consist, for example, in training Ukrainian military personnel or demining territories.<\/p>\n

President Pavel also drew attention to a possible change in Russia’s position regarding the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine:<\/p>\n

“Until recently, Moscow categorically denied any presence of international forces on Ukrainian territory. Now we see signs of a possible change in this rhetoric,” he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Recall that European leaders are developing a package of security guarantees for Ukraine, which provides for the introduction of a military contingent from several countries as part of a potential peace agreement. This should strengthen Kyiv’s position on the eve of a possible meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. According to media reports, about 10 countries have already expressed their readiness to send their troops to Ukraine, including Great Britain and France<\/a> . The goal is to support the process of security guarantees after the cessation of hostilities, without going to the front line.<\/p>\n

As reported, Great Britain is ready to send its troops to protect Ukrainian skies and ports, but participation in front-line battles is not envisaged.<\/a><\/p>\n

In addition, US President DonaldTrump has admitted the possibility of providing air support to Ukraine as part of a future peace agreement with Russia<\/a> . At the same time, he confirmed that American troops will not participate in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
