The United States plans to take on only a “minimal” role in providing security guarantees to Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby during a meeting with representatives of Great Britain, France, Germany and Finland, writes Politico.<\/p>\n

“Initially, it becomes clear that it is Europe that will act on the ground. The US is not fully committed to anything,” Colby said.<\/p>\n

Another source noted: “I don’t know what this gives us… We’re practically back to where we were in the spring with the coalition of the willing.”<\/p>\n

A European official, commenting to The Telegraph, added: “It seems like it’s all up to us.”<\/p>\n

Recall, United States Vice President J.D. Vance stated that European states should bear most of the costs associated with providing security guarantees for Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, the Kremlin insists on veto power over any security guarantees for Ukraine, seeking to thwart joint efforts by the US, Europe, and Kyiv to create conditions for lasting peace.<\/a><\/p>\n
