At the same time, Kyiv categorically rejects concessions that would mean capitulation and renunciation of internationally recognized territories.

According to journalists, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during talks with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, put forward the conditions for a so-called “peaceful settlement.”

According to the interlocutors, Moscow demands from Ukraine:

complete withdrawal from all territories of Donbas that are still under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

refusal from NATO membership and consolidation of neutral status;

guarantees that Western troops will not be deployed in Ukraine, even in the format of a peacekeeping mission.

Instead, Russia is allegedly ready to “freeze” the current front line in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, as well as give up small territories in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions that are under its control.

The Kremlin also insists on a legally binding guarantee from NATO that there will be no further expansion to the east.

At the same time, Ukraine’s position remains unchanged: President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized that Donbas is a key defense outpost, and withdrawal from the region would mean the loss of statehood. In addition, NATO accession is enshrined in the Constitution, and Kyiv is not ready to abandon its strategic course.

“If we are talking about a simple withdrawal from the east, we cannot do this. This is a matter of the survival of the state, which concerns our strongest defensive lines,” Zelenskyy said.

The White House and NATO headquarters have refrained from official comment on Putin’s proposals, but Western leaders have repeatedly expressed doubts that the Kremlin truly wants peace.

Political scientist Samuel Charap from RAND believes that Moscow’s demand for a complete withdrawal from Donbas is unacceptable to Kyiv neither politically nor strategically, and public statements about “readiness for compromise” may be more of a signal to Trump than a real plan from the Kremlin.

Russian troops currently control about 20% of Ukraine’s territory. However, even in Moscow, it is acknowledged that continuing the war requires enormous resources, and Russia’s economic vulnerability is only growing.

Kyiv’s Western allies emphasize that any solution must be based on the principle of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Recall that US President Donald Trump wants Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to first hold a personal meeting . Only after that is he ready to join the trilateral format of negotiations.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that as a result of a peace agreement with Russia, Ukraine could regain control of a significant part of its territories and restore peaceful life . At the same time, he emphasized that joining NATO and returning Crimea are unrealistic, and American troops will not participate in security guarantees for Ukraine.

By the way, US President Donald Trump, together with the leaders of European countries, agreed to create a special working group that will prepare a draft of security guarantees for Ukraine. This intergovernmental format will be headed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

Russia has put forward new conditions for a possible end to the war against Ukraine: the Kremlin demands the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, refusal to join NATO, and a ban on the deployment of Western troops on the territory of the country.
