The withdrawal of UAH 8 billion from the Kyiv city budget is illegal and unacceptable. The capital, in particular, spends significant resources on social programs, provides non-repayable financial assistance to medical workers of local health care institutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by the Head of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Family and Social Policy, the leader of the “European Solidarity” in the Kyiv City Council, Maryna Poroshenko, in an interview with the ” Pryamiy<\/strong> ” TV channel.<\/p>\n

“When they took 5 billion in personal income tax, they liked it and decided not to stop there. And the next step was 8 billion UAH. That is, the rates are growing. Of course, this is a violation of Ukrainian legislation, and the Law on the capital, and on local self-government. And this should not have been done in the middle of the year, when the entire budget has already been allocated and it.”<\/p>\n

“And we also found ourselves in a situation where we owe money because these funds were taken from us retroactively. That is, we must return these funds as of August 1. We will now redistribute the Kyiv budget internally and look for funds so that, first and foremost, the socially vulnerable groups of the population, the military personnel, do not feel the impact in any way.”<\/p>\n

“Such steps are unacceptable in the civilized world. If we are going to move towards the European Union and want to be accepted there, we must defend the democratic principles laid down as fundamental, as a requirement for joining the European Union. And these are democracy, freedom of speech, protection of human rights and freedoms,” the deputy noted.<\/p>\n

She noted that last year, UAH 10 billion was spent from the Kyiv budget on the city target program “Support for Kyiv residents – Defenders of Ukraine”, and UAH 8 billion was allocated this year. “But we were going to increase this figure by the end of the year. These funds were spent on the restoration of bombed schools, kindergartens, social and medical institutions,” Maryna Poroshenko noted.<\/p>\n

She also recalled that Kyiv is one of the few cities in Ukraine that provides non-repayable financial assistance to medical workers at all levels. “This is now three thousand, which our medical workers receive every month as an additional payment to their basic salary. They say that these items are protected, that is, they are from the state budget, but Kyiv pays its doctors additionally in order to really show the importance of this profession, to thank them for constantly saving human lives,” the deputy said.<\/p>\n

“We currently do not have military hospitals or medical institutions for civilians. If you go to any medical institution in the city of Kyiv, you will definitely see military personnel there. That is, our doors are open to all defenders who need medical care,” said Maryna Poroshenko.<\/p>\n
