Deputy Head of the Rivne Regional State Administration Serhiy Podolin reported that starting September 1, updated classes on the “Defense of Ukraine” course will start in schools and vocational education institutions in Ukraine. The training load will be increased to two hours per week, and the program will focus on practical skills, modern aspects of security, defense, and first aid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that an important innovation will be the abandonment of the division of students by gender – from now on, both boys and girls will study the subject together. It is planned to more actively involve veterans with appropriate education and specialists who specialize in this discipline in teaching. This will make the lessons more applied and closer to real conditions.<\/p>\n

There are already 45 training centers operating in the Rivne region for this course: 34 in schools and 11 in vocational schools. Teaching is provided by 125 instructors, including 20 veterans who have undergone specialized training to work with children.<\/p>\n

The equipment of such centers meets modern challenges. Students have the opportunity to use simulators for controlling FPV drones, interactive laser shooting simulators, educational tablets, and multimedia equipment.<\/p>\n

This opens up the opportunity to practice practical skills at a high level and makes the subject as close as possible to the real needs of defense.<\/p>\n

Thus, the “Defense of Ukraine” course takes on a new meaning – from theoretical knowledge, it moves to modern practice, which prepares young people not only for life in war conditions, but also for conscious citizenship and responsibility for the country’s security.<\/p>\n

By the way, starting from the new school year, the government is expanding the free lunch program for schoolchildren<\/a> . For the first time, free lunches will be provided not only to elementary school students, but also to middle and high school students in a number of regions that were most affected by the war.<\/p>\n

We would like to remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established that the 2025\/2026 academic year in general secondary education institutions will last from September 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.<\/a> At the same time, the final structure of the educational process, including the dates of completion of classes and holidays, will be determined by the schools themselves, taking into account the security situation and the needs of students.<\/p>\n
