Poland is suspending Starlink funding for Ukraine after President Karol Nawrocki vetoed a law that would have allowed continued support through the Ukraine Assistance Fund.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote about this in X.<\/a><\/p>\n

It is noted that Poland has been one of the main Starlink suppliers to Ukraine, providing over 24,500 terminals and covering their monthly subscriptions. The total costs since 2022 amounted to<\/a> about 323 million zlotys (approximately $84 million). However, after President Nawrocki vetoed the law that continued funding, Poland no longer has the legal ability to pay for these services from October 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

Polish Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski expressed concern, noting that the Starlink shutdown could seriously affect Ukraine’s ability to maintain communications, especially in frontline areas.<\/p>\n

“This is the end of the Starlink internet that Poland is providing to war-torn Ukraine. It also means the end of support for storing Ukrainian government data in a secure location,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

The official also stressed that this could be a “gift” for Russian troops, as the lack of communication would complicate coordination and defense.<\/p>\n

“I can’t imagine a better gift for Putin’s forces than shutting down the internet in Ukraine. Mr. President, you must stop blindly attacking the government in the name of political struggle. You are harming people fighting for their independence while helping Russia,” he stressed.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Polish government has stated that it is looking for alternative ways to support Ukraine, including through other international initiatives and organizations. However, according to experts, there are currently no equivalent substitutes for Starlink that could provide the same quality and reliability of communication.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the law on providing social assistance and free medical care to Ukrainian citizens<\/a> staying in the country.<\/p>\n

By the way, in March, Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski responded to Elon Musk’s statements regarding the possible shutdown of Starlink for the Ukrainian army.<\/a><\/p>\n

Recall that in 2022, American billionaire Elon Musk gave the order to disable Starlink satellite terminals over part of the occupied territory of Ukraine<\/a> , including Kherson, which was then controlled by Russia.<\/p>\n
