Belgium has unveiled a major aid package for Ukraine, including \u20ac1 billion annually, F-16 fighter jets, and support for rebuilding infrastructure. Brussels also plans to contribute to a post-ceasefire peacekeeping mission and use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukrainian schools, hospitals, and the energy sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On May 25, a press conference was held in Odesa with Belgium\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prevost, who outlined the country\u2019s comprehensive support plan for Ukraine. According to Prevost, the assistance will encompass military, economic, and humanitarian components.<\/p>\n

On the military front, Belgium has pledged \u20ac1 billion annually until 2029. The funds will support mine-clearing ships, underwater drones, and participation in key coalitions for air defense and mine clearance operations.<\/p>\n

Special attention is being given to aviation support: several F-16 fighters from Belgium are expected to be delivered to Ukraine in September. Additionally, \u20ac20 million has been allocated to support the Ukrainian Food Initiative, highlighting Ukraine\u2019s role as the world\u2019s breadbasket.<\/p>\n

Belgium also confirmed its readiness to join a post-ceasefire peacekeeping mission within the framework of the \u201cCoalition of the Willing.\u201d Prevost noted that the format of participation and the scale of the military contribution will be determined jointly with the Ukrainian government and the Belgian Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n

Economic aid will focus on infrastructure reconstruction, with frozen Russian assets earmarked for the restoration of schools, hospitals, and energy systems. Prevost emphasized that the assistance is long-term and concrete, and that Belgium intends to remain a reliable partner to Kyiv at all levels.<\/p>\n

Recall that on May 26, the last of the 24 F-16 fighters<\/a> that the Dutch authorities promised to transfer to Ukraine already took off from Volkel Air Base.<\/p>\n
