Russia’s attempt to launch a large-scale summer offensive on the Ukrainian front proved to be a failure.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> the German newspaper Bild, citing an analysis by military commentator Julian R\u00f6pke. According to him, most of the tasks set by the Kremlin for the period from April to August 2025 remained unfulfilled.<\/p>\n

In particular, the occupation forces tried to break through to Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, but the August assault ended in complete defeat – all assault units were either destroyed or captured. On the northern front, Russia sought to create a so-called “protective belt”, but managed to advance less than 70 kilometers. Meanwhile, in the southern direction, in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, the contact line remained without significant changes, which forced the Kremlin to effectively curtail offensive operations.<\/p>\n

R\u00f6pke also notes that in the summer of 2025, Russian troops managed to occupy only about 1,800 square kilometers – this is only 0.3% of Ukrainian territory. In return, Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on objects in the Russian Federation, in particular on oil refineries, where strikes have been carried out even at a distance of up to 1,200 km from the front line. Experts have estimated that since the beginning of the year, about 17% of Russian petrochemical capacities have been disabled, which has led to a fuel shortage and a jump in prices within the country.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed his readiness to discuss the terms of a ceasefire, but stressed that surrender was out of the question. Meanwhile, military analyst Gustav Gressel noted that the Ukrainian army has undergone a reorganization process, which has had a positive impact on its combat effectiveness. At the same time, fatigue is felt among the personnel of the Russian troops. However, the expert warns: with the onset of winter, when the frozen ground will facilitate the movement of heavy equipment, Russia may try to launch a new wave of offensive.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, soldiers of the border commandant’s rapid response unit of the Chernihiv detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine stopped the Russian offensive in the Pokrov direction and captured nine occupiers.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the Kremlin has apparently made a series of concessions that may indicate a readiness to end the war against Ukraine<\/a> . This includes, in particular, Russia’s abandonment of plans to change power in Kyiv and its readiness to provide guarantees of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
