On the night of August 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in the Caspian Sea, and strong tremors were felt by residents of Dagestan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by EMSC-CSEM.<\/p>\n

Experts specify that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Caspian Sea at a depth of about ten kilometers, approximately 28 kilometers east of Izberbash and 51 kilometers from Derbent.<\/p>\n

According to local reports, in the middle of the night, many residents hurriedly left their apartments and houses, taking to the streets and trying to stay away from buildings.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses say that the tremors were felt sharply, and the rumble that accompanied them created a sense of danger. Many did not dare to return home until the morning.<\/p>\n

The earthquake was also felt by residents of neighboring settlements, including Derbent, Kaspiysk and Khasavyurt, as well as in Chechnya, Astrakhan, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Aktau and Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n

There are no reports of casualties or damage yet, but experts say the possibility of new aftershocks remains.<\/p>\n

Earlier , a powerful earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia, triggering a tsunami that reached waves as high as 3 meters in some places<\/a> .<\/p>\n
