China has called the demands of the US and Russia to join nuclear disarmament “unreasonable and unrealistic.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Guo Jiakun, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the statement, US President Donald Trump said he had discussed nuclear disarmament with Vladimir Putin. He would also like to see Beijing participate in the process.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the nuclear capabilities of China and the United States are not comparable.<\/p>\n

“It is unreasonable and unrealistic to demand that China start trilateral nuclear disarmament talks with the US and Russia,” Guo Jiakun said.<\/p>\n

He also added that China strictly adheres to the principle of no first use of nuclear weapons and adheres to a defensive nuclear strategy. Guo also noted that Beijing has no plans to engage in an arms race with any other country.<\/p>\n

“Countries with the largest nuclear arsenals should be the first to fulfill their special priority responsibilities on nuclear disarmament,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman added.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Donald Trump said that he would like to prepare a new Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty between the United States and Russia<\/a> .<\/p>\n
