Germany is in the final stages of creating a specialized railway infrastructure designed for the rapid transfer of military equipment and personnel to NATO’s eastern flank and towards Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> Der Tagesspiegel with reference to the Federal Ministry of Transport of Germany.<\/p>\n

According to government officials, as part of the defense mobility program, the country has already formed a so-called \u201cbasic network of military tracks.\u201d This railway system is capable of transporting heavy equipment and logistical cargo in the event of a large-scale crisis or armed conflict.<\/p>\n

In particular, weapons and equipment are already being transported via Germany and the Baltic countries to a logistics hub located south of Krakow, Poland. The cargo then heads to Ukraine via Lviv, which is connected to the European railway network.<\/p>\n

Separately, it is reported that the German Ministry of Defense, together with Deutsche Bahn, is considering the option of converting old passenger trains into mobile medical units. As Bild previously reported, in the event of an escalation of the situation, these trains will be able to evacuate thousands of wounded from border regions to hospitals in the rear.<\/p>\n

This large-scale infrastructure project is seen as part of NATO’s overall preparedness for possible conflict scenarios in Eastern Europe. The main goal is to ensure the rapid and efficient transportation of both military assets and humanitarian aid in the event of a threat from Russia.<\/p>\n

We will remind, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful opposed the deployment of its troops to Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, Germany announced the allocation of $500 million for a NATO initiative to supply Ukraine with critical American-made weapons<\/a> . The decision was made during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Berlin, amid intensive diplomatic consultations ahead of an upcoming meeting between the leaders of the United States and Russia in Alaska.<\/p>\n

In addition, on Monday, August 25, German Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil said that Berlin is committed to paying Ukraine 9 billion euros each year in the coming years.<\/a><\/p>\n
