On Monday, September 1, Brussels hosted an extraordinary Ukraine\u2013NATO Council meeting in the Political Committee format, convened in response to the recent large-scale Russian missile and drone attacks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> was announced<\/span><\/a> by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Boev and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksiy Sergeev.<\/p>\n

The officials briefed allies on the security situation in Ukraine, the Russian Federation\u2019s tactics and potential plans, as well as the consequences of recent Russian attacks, including casualties, injuries, and the scale of destruction.<\/p>\n

They also highlighted the enemy\u2019s increased production of weapons\u2014cruise missiles, drones, and artillery\u2014and emphasized support for Russia from Iran and North Korea.<\/p>\n

Ukraine requested assistance in strengthening its air defense, including Patriot systems and missiles, and stressed the need for long-range strike capabilities. Additionally, the Ukrainian side called for increased investment in the defense industry, particularly in drone development.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepresentatives of NATO member states strongly condemned Russia\u2019s massive shelling of Ukrainian cities, civilian infrastructure, and citizens, noting that these actions demonstrate Russia\u2019s lack of desire for peace. They also emphasized the need to increase pressure on the Russian Federation and assured continued support for Ukraine, including sustainable and timely delivery of necessary weapons,\u201d the Foreign Ministry said.<\/p>\n

The meeting also addressed the importance of protecting energy infrastructure as the heating season approaches, with NATO member states pledging support to Ukraine in this regard.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of August 28, Kyiv suffered one of the largest attacks in recent months<\/a>. Russian forces simultaneously used strike drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, which led to large-scale destruction in several areas of the city.<\/p>\n

By the way, on August 29, emergency and search operations were completed in Kyiv<\/a> at the site of a Russian missile strike on a residential building. According to the KMVA, 25 people died as a result of the attack on the capital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that on August 29, Ukraine called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council<\/a> amid the massive Russian attack.<\/p>\n
