German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has issued a scathing statement about Russian President Vladimir Putin. He called the Russian leader “perhaps the most serious war criminal of our time” and stressed that “there can be no leniency” in his treatment of him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Merz emphasized that Russia’s actions are in the nature of terror against the civilian population. That is why, according to him, the international community must clearly determine how to deal with war criminals and not allow any compromises.<\/p>\n

The Chancellor also addressed the war in Ukraine, stressing that the country and its allies must strengthen their positions on the front. He noted that Russia “brazenly took a significant part of the world this year,” and therefore it was time to strengthen defense efforts.<\/p>\n

Friedrich Merz’s statement echoes a recent call by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also emphasized the need to strengthen defense in the fall.<\/p>\n
