As it turned out, the then-high-ranking official used the apartment of his closest associate Igor Sechin to meet with his mistress. This episode caused a loud quarrel in the future Russian president’s family and led to tension in his entourage.

This is stated in the book “The Tsar in His Own Person” by journalists Roman Badanin and Mikhail Rubin. The information was provided to the authors by a former close acquaintance of the Russian president.

According to him, after moving to Moscow, Sechin received an apartment from the state that was even larger than Putin’s. This fact offended the future president, but the resentment quickly disappeared when the need arose to find a place for secret meetings. Then he used his associate’s apartment.

At first, it seemed that everything happened unnoticed. But Sechin’s wife Marina discovered traces of the presence of another woman in their apartment. When she began to interrogate her husband, he admitted that his boss had visited the apartment with his mistress. Marina Sechin later reported this to Lyudmila Putin, which caused a serious conflict in the presidential family.

The interlocutor did not name the woman Putin met with. However, the authors of the book believe that it could have been Svetlana Krivonogikh, a woman who is said to be the mother of Putin’s illegitimate daughter and who often came to Moscow at that time.

Despite the scandal, Igor Sechin did not suffer from his “talkativeness.” On the contrary, he made a career as the president’s personal secretary, curator of the energy sector, and head of one of the largest state-owned oil and gas companies in Russia.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram .

Vladimir Putin found himself at the center of a scandalous story in the late 1990s over an extramarital affair.
