The United Kingdom is considering the possibility of transferring promising NIGHTFALL tactical ballistic missiles to Ukraine after their development is completed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> Defense Minister John Healy during a briefing, Military reports.<\/p>\n

He said Britain would continue to respond to requests from Ukrainian partners and provide the assistance that is most needed. At the same time, Healy stressed that the government does not disclose details of the technologies it transfers to allies.<\/p>\n

The development of the NIGHTFALL missile began at the end of August. According to available information, it is a high-precision weapon with a range of over 600 km. The missile should carry up to 300 kg of explosives, and the total mass of the warhead will reach 400\u2013500 kg.<\/p>\n

NIGHTFALL is expected to move along a quasi-ballistic trajectory, maneuvering in the final phase of the flight. This will allow achieving high accuracy of destruction – with a circular deviation of no more than 5 meters. The navigation system should work even in conditions of strong electronic countermeasures or in the absence of a satellite signal.<\/p>\n

The launcher must hold at least two missiles and ensure the launch of the entire ammunition within 15 minutes after stopping in position. After launch, the crew must be able to leave the position within 5 minutes.<\/p>\n

The estimated cost of one missile will be no more than $675,000 (excluding the cost of the warhead, launcher, and development costs).<\/p>\n

If the contract is awarded, the production capacity should be capable of producing at least 10 missiles per month, with the potential for scale-up. The MoD also plans to produce five fully functional prototypes within 9\u201312 months for further testing.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the UK government has announced the allocation of over \u00a31 billion (approximately $1.3 billion) for defense support to Ukraine.<\/a> The funding is being provided by funds obtained from frozen Russian assets.<\/p>\n

As reported, the Ukrainian defense sector is strengthening: the Fire Point company presented the latest ballistic missiles of its own design – FP-7 and FP-9, and also announced the creation of air defense systems.<\/a><\/p>\n
