At the beginning of the plenary session, the European Parliament observed a minute of silence in memory of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, MP from the European Solidarity faction, Andriy Parubiy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The video from the European Parliament<\/span> was published<\/span><\/a> on social media by Petro Poroshenko, who is currently in Strasbourg.<\/span><\/p>\n

European Parliament President Roberta Metzola addressed the deputies, noting that the war in Ukraine continues.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd while we will continue to insist on peace and support all efforts in this direction, we understand that this must be real peace, peace with dignity and justice. We were shocked by the horrific murder of the former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, in Lviv two weeks ago. Tragedies like Mr. Parubiy\u2019s death have strengthened our community of Ukrainians\u2019 support for their struggle for freedom and democracy,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Today we are working in Strasbourg. A new political season has started here. It began with a minute of silence for Andriy Parubiy, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”. This is a recognition of his role in the struggle for the freedom of Ukraine and our common European future,” Poroshenko wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

He thanked every European MP for supporting this initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are together in the fight against the Russian invasion. Eternal memory to Andriy,” he summed up.<\/span> <\/p>\n
