Large-scale Russian attacks and a slowdown in American deliveries have threatened Ukraine with a shortage of air defense equipment. Ammunition stocks for Patriot, NASAMS, and Stinger systems may run out in the near future, jeopardizing Kyiv’s ability to withstand new strikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that after the Pentagon revised the military assistance program, the pace of ammunition shipments to Ukrainian air defense systems dropped significantly. The supply situation became less regular after June 2025, which creates the risk of a critical shortage if the Kremlin’s attacks continue or intensify.<\/p>\n

Of particular concern is the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, where missiles and ammunition are delivered in batches, creating gaps between shipments. European partners are providing air defense and ammunition from their own stockpiles and through purchases from the United States, but these supplies have not yet reached the volume needed for sustained defense.<\/p>\n

In the United States, aid to Ukraine has been held back in part by the military’s internal political reorientation toward countering China. Senior Pentagon official Elbridge Colby prepared a memo to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urging a reduction in aid to Kyiv because it was depleting limited American supplies.<\/p>\n

After checking the condition of key systems, Washington first stopped and then reduced the supply of PAC-3 missiles for Patriot, Stinger, high-precision artillery ammunition, and more than a hundred Hellfire and AIM missiles used for NASAMS and F-16 fighters.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a White House spokesman said President Donald Trump wanted to “stop the killing” and ordered increased arms sales to NATO allies so they could quickly replenish supplies for Ukraine. The US also called on European partners to be more active in supporting Kyiv and reduce purchases of Russian energy.<\/p>\n

Analysts note that the shortage of air defense ammunition could significantly complicate the defense of Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure on the eve of a new stage of large-scale Russian attacks, in particular on energy facilities.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Defense Forces are actively strengthening their capabilities to counter Russian Shahed attack drones. An echeloned air defense system is being created<\/a> , new crews of interceptor drones are being formed, and the development of innovative technologies to protect Ukrainian skies continues.<\/p>\n

Recall that after the meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing”, the United Kingdom and Germany announced increased support for Ukraine. The leaders of both countries promised the supply of long-range missiles, expanded air defense<\/a> , and additional armament for four new brigades, emphasizing the need to continue training the Ukrainian military and integrate the country into European security structures.<\/p>\n

The day before, France and Germany agreed to strengthen Ukrainian air defenses<\/a> after another massive shelling by the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n
