The nighttime attack by Russian drones on Polish territory, which Warsaw called an “unprecedented violation,” was another step by the Kremlin on the path of escalation. It seems that this incident was carefully prepared long before the current phase: among the wreckage of the downed UAVs, found back in July, 4G modems with SIM cards of Polish and Lithuanian operators were found. This indicates that Russia was preparing for flights of its strike drones over the territories of these countries and testing the possibility of connecting them to local mobile networks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The information was disseminated by Polish journalist Marek Budzysh based on an internal report dated July 2. Although the document did not contain the author\u2019s name, it detailed the locations where the drones were shot down. The report also emphasized the need to inform Polish and Lithuanian partners about the find \u2014 despite this, the report practically did not become the subject of public resonance, although since then UAV incursions into Polish skies have become regular.<\/p>\n

Russian strike drones are equipped with SIM cards not for fun – it is critically important for remote course correction, receiving data from the on-board camera and responding positively to air defense. If Polish networks are used for control, this is a direct challenge to the country’s security. Whether similar technologies were on the drones that attacked Poland on September 10 is currently unknown, but it is possible that one of the tasks of this attack is to test the state’s air defense system.<\/p>\n

This threat becomes especially relevant in light of the upcoming Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2025”, which are scheduled to take place on September 12.<\/p>\n

Recall, after a group of Russian drones penetrated the airspace of Poland, a NATO member state, a number of Western governments expressed solidarity and concern<\/a> . Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned the violation of the Polish border by Russian drones, calling it an \u201cunacceptable act.\u201d Latvian President Edgars Rink\u0117vi\u010dius also issued a statement, emphasizing Poland\u2019s full support. In his opinion, such incidents indicate that the Russian Federation\u2019s war against Ukraine has direct consequences for the security of neighboring states.<\/p>\n

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide described the situation as \u201cdeeply worrying,\u201d emphasizing that Norway stands shoulder to shoulder with Poland and other NATO allies.<\/p>\n

As reported, on the night of September 9-10, the situation in Eastern Europe escalated again – Russia launched a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, while a number of enemy drones crossed the air border of Poland<\/a> . This forced Warsaw to activate air defense forces and engage aviation.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that last night 19 Russian drones violated Polish airspace<\/a> . Polish air defense forces were able to eliminate only four of them.<\/p>\n

It should be added that later , in addition to seven drones, a missile fragment was also found on Polish territory.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, on the morning of September 10 , Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk initiated an urgent government meeting due to an incident involving the violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones.<\/a><\/p>\n
