The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced the start of an internal investigation after the Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicions against one of the Bureau’s detectives. He is accused of declaring false data worth over 4 million hryvnias.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the NABU<\/a> press service.<\/p>\n

This is about the deputy head of one of the NABU detective units. According to the SBU, he could have hidden part of his income and property in the declaration. In its response, the NABU noted that the Internal Control Department (ICD) did not detect any facts of false declaration during the candidate’s verification in 2024, and now the appointed official investigation will verify the information published by the SBU.<\/p>\n

If violations are confirmed, the detective may be suspended from work and internal disciplinary measures may be applied. The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv will consider a petition for a preventive measure – bail and suspension from office.<\/p>\n

It is worth recalling that back in July 2025, the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at NABU employees and seized personal equipment. At that time, the NABU Investigation and Control Commission appealed to law enforcement agencies and the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to inform about possible violations and include anti-corruption officers in investigative groups. However, no official reports of confirmed facts were received.<\/p>\n

At the same time, on September 5, 2025, NABU Director Semen Kryvonos stated that the SBU is preparing a new wave of suspicions against employees of anti-corruption agencies. According to him, there are already court rulings against SBU employees, and NABU expects further attacks against its employees, including first deputies and detectives, some of whom are abroad.<\/p>\n

Kryvonos also emphasized that previously detained SBU employees of NABU remain under arrest without reasonable grounds. The director emphasized the importance of the state’s movement as an anti-corruption system and the need to answer society’s questions about bringing corrupt officials to justice.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the NABU and the SAPO announced suspicion of the former head of the SBU cybersecurity department, Ilya Vityuk, in illegal enrichment and false declaration. The Security Service of Ukraine stated that the suspicion of Vityuk is revenge on the part of anti-corruption agencies for the detention of several NABU employees in late July 2025. On September 4, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for Vityuk in the form of a bail of just over 9 million hryvnias.<\/p>\n

The agent passed state secrets and confidential information about Ukrainian security officers, activists, and prisoners of war to the enemy, and also coordinated with the former deputy head of Yanukovych’s security, who is now acting in favor of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n
