On the night of September 12, Russia was subjected to a massive drone attack in several regions at once. The most powerful strikes were directed at the Leningrad and Smolensk regions, where explosions, fires, and the activation of air defense systems were recorded.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Russian media.<\/p>\n

One of the strikes hit the port of Primorsk in the Leningrad region, the main Russian oil terminal on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. According to the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, the drone attack caused a fire on one of the ships. Previously, the fire extinguishing system was activated, which prevented a large-scale disaster.<\/p>\n

Later, the head of the region clarified that the fire also spread to the pumping station. The fire was localized, and, according to him, there is no threat of a leak of petroleum products. No injuries were recorded.<\/p>\n

In parallel, it is reported that the Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down more than 30 drones, the wreckage of which fell in several areas – in particular, in Vsevolozhsk, Tosno, Pokrovsky, Uzmino, and Lomonosovsky districts.<\/p>\n

The same night, a drone attack was also recorded in Smolensk. According to Russian media, a series of explosions were heard in the city, and local residents posted videos of flames and smoke. According to the governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, at that time air defense units were working in the air, trying to repel the attack.<\/p>\n

A high air alert has been imposed in the region. According to eyewitness reports, one of the strikes was likely directed at the facilities of the Lukoil oil company. There is currently no official confirmation of this information.<\/p>\n

These strikes continue a series of drone attacks targeting fuel and energy infrastructure deep inside Russia. According to recent reports, the consequences of such strikes, including on refineries, have already led to fuel shortages in more than 20 Russian regions.<\/p>\n

Recall that in the city of Penza, Russia, on the night of September 8, a series of explosions occurred, which disabled a key oil and gas infrastructure.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, on September 10, 2025 , in the Black Sea, Ukrainian special forces subordinate to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine successfully hit one of the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.<\/a><\/p>\n
