Russia plans to use the Zapad-2025 military exercises in Belarus for provocations against EU countries, in particular Lithuania and Poland. After the drone incidents, the next step will be the “accidental” appearance of Russian military personnel on European Union territory to test NATO’s reaction.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This opinion was expressed<\/a> on the air of “Pryamoy” by Ivan Us, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Expert of the United Ukraine Analytical Center.<\/p>\n

“Who is threatened by this? I have one option – Lithuania and Poland. Because the exercises that are taking place after the drones could be the next step. That is, the drones flew in, there was no reaction – what will happen if during these exercises the military accidentally gets lost and enters the territory of one of the EU countries? Will there be any reaction, or will everyone somehow say: they got lost, well, anything happens. That is, in fact, if the EU does not react, then such provocations will continue. Now they can go in and out, and then they will go in and not come out. And here you can calculate what will happen next. That is, this is a big challenge for Europe,” Us noted.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he commented on the likelihood of a Russian attack on one of the NATO member countries, emphasizing that this is a matter of the near future.<\/p>\n

“The next few years are too long a period. I’m thinking about this year already, about the end of this year. I view these exercises as at least an attempt to demonstrate the ability to take aim – not to attack, but to prepare the ground and see what happens after the drone situation, which was repeated the next day in Romania, another NATO country. That is, there is Romania and there is Poland. That is, Russia is looking for this red line, after which NATO will react,” explains Us.<\/p>\n
